Wiggle Amy’s Gran Fondo is Australia’s best cycling event. Catering to cyclists of all abilities, the event is held on fully closed roads in one of the most picturesque destinations on the planet – the Great Ocean Road.

With almost 12,000 riders taking part in the last two years, the event has established itself as one of the most popular mass participation bike rides in the country, attracting cyclists from across Australia and internationally.

Held in Lorne and Apollo Bay, Victoria, the event includes a weekend of family-friendly activities that makes the Wiggle Amy’s Gran Fondo not just an event, but an experience.

An overview of the Wiggle Amy’s Gran Fondo event weekend

The event weekend takes place over two days, starting on Saturday 16 September 2017 with the Amy’s Otway Tour Criterium in the main street of Lorne in the afternoon followed by Amy’s Wall hill-climb in the evening. Both events are public, anyone can enjoy the action. In Apollo Bay the CycloCross action commences at 3:00 pm

On Sunday 17 September 2017 the main event, Wiggle Amy’s Gran Fondo takes place. In order to participate, you must enter the event online.

There is a distance to suit every level of rider, including;

120km Wiggle Amy’s Gran Fondo – The anti-clockwise 2016 course that concludes with breathtaking views along the Great Ocean Road & finishes on the main street in Lorne.

65km Amy’s Gravel Fondo – A spectacular gravel event suitable for all riders using a non-technical yet challenging course through the rainforests of the Otway Ranges. Starting and finishing in Apollo Bay.

45km Amy’s Medio Fondo – Showcases the entire stretch of the picturesque Great Ocean Road from Apollo Bay to Lorne (includes return bus)

14km Amy’s Family Fondo – Lorne and Apollo Bay. Fully closed roads ideal for families, kids and the local community

Wiggle Amy’s Gran Fondo places a huge emphasis on safety, with all participants required to complete a safety briefing prior to the event and features a course closed to traffic.

Ahead of the main field of Wiggle Amy’s Gran Fondo, Australia’s best male and female cyclists take to the fully closed course through the Otway Ranges and Great Ocean Road in Amy’s Otway Tour, part of the National Road Series.

This Subaru National Road Series (NRS) race is stage two of Amy’s Otway Tour following Saturdays Amy’s Otway Tour Criterium.

The Event Village on Lorne’s beach front is buzzing all weekend with industry exhibitors, food vendors and bars surrounding the big screen. The ideal place for families to relax and for riders to wind down post-event.
